A portable instrument supports ultrasonic inspection of the hull plate. The probe, its cable, the weld bead and the portable instrument form the inspection setup. The probe is moved against the wetted weld to perform nondestructive testing. The inspection covers a long joint in metal shell plating at the shipyard.
